• notes: A physician and lay preacher, Jennings had developed a therapeutic bath for treating fevers over the preceding decade while living in Lynchburg and editing the Lynchburg Press; trials of the apparatus in Norfolk at end of the War of 1812 led to his relocation there to manufacture and promote the device among a supportive community.
  His association with the new job-press office of Samuel Dillworth and Charles Keemle led to their relocation to Vincennes, Indiana, where they promptly became the official printers for that new state's first elected governor, Jonathan Jennings, the doctor's younger brother.
