Fine Young Horse Telemachus Will Stand.
- imprint_number: 1816.129
- title: Telemachus. This exceedingly fine, young horse, 5 years old this spring ... will stand at my stable [blank] at 12 dollars …
- sequence_number: 129
- year: 1816
- place_issued: Virginia
- issuing_press: Uncertain
- author: Fontaine, C.R.
- notes: Only known copy is held in the special collections of the University of Virginia; the blanks therein have been completed in manuscript for New Canton in Buckingham County and for Columbia in Franklin County.
Sheet lacks colophon; another such stud notice for Telemachus in UVA's collections is dated to 1825, when the horse is described as "now fourteen years old," making this item an 1816 imprint; however, determining the issuing press is impracticable, with the manuscript locales effectively equidistant from both Petersburg and Lynchburg, and Fontaine advertising the services of this horse in Richmond newspapers; hence, the indeterminacy here.
