- notes: Catalogue marks a temporary retirement from printing and journalism by William F. Gray; in July 1817, Timothy Green reclaimed his majority interest in the Fredericksburg printing office that issued the Virginia Herald from Gray, who had conducted the office for him since late 1814; Green took on his protégé James D. Harrow as a partner in the new firm of Green & Harrow, which conducted the office until early 1819; Gray, in turn, formed a concern with another former Green partner, Ebenezer P. Cady, to expand the bookstore that Cady had split off from Green's office in 1815; the pair continued in business this way until Green sold his interest in the printing operation back to Gray in January 1819.
Title lacks imprint; it is unclear whether Gray & Cady maintained a small job-press as part of their business, or whether Green & Co. remained the sole printer there, so issuing this item; hence no attribution is made here other than publisher credit announced on title page.
