- imprint_number: 1818.049
- title: Cottom’s North Carolina and Virginia Almanack, for the year of Our Lord 1819: being the 3d after bissextile or leap year; and 43d of American independence, until the fourth of July. … Adapted to the latitude and meridian of Richmond. Calculated by Joseph Cave, of Orange county, Virginia.
- sequence_number: 49
- year: 1818
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: William Allegre for Peter Cottom
- author: Cave, Joseph (1784-1863).
- notes: Title represents second year of an affiliation between bookseller Cottom and printer Allegre in almanac publishing; this imprint is identical to Cottom's New Virginia Almanack for 1819 (1818.048), with exception of text changes to title-page above the words "Virginia Almanack" and the replacement of pages 32-33 in the North Carolina edition which list court sessions there. Imprint in both states: "Richmond: Published annually by Peter Cottom, and for sale at his bookstores in Richmond and Lynchburg," with a colophon appearing on the last page {p. 36[ recording "Printed by William Allegre."
Copy seen by Shaw & Shoemaker (filmed by Early American Imprints Series) lacks last leaf [p. 35-36], so lacks Allegre colophon, leading his omission from catalogue entries for this item.
