- imprint_number: 1818.127
- title: To the honorable the General Assembly ... petition of the subscribers, stockholders in the Bank of the Valley in Virginia ...
- sequence_number: 127
- year: 1818
- place_issued: Shepherdstown
- issuing_press: Robinson & Harper
- author: Stockholders in the Bank of the Valley in Virginia.
- notes: Petitioners sought an increase in the capitalization ($ 130,000) of the Bank of the Valley of Virginia in order to allow for opening a branch office in Shepherdstown. Despite a positive committee report on the petition, the resulting bill was defeated on January 27, 1819.
Sheet lacks colophon; item carries a manuscript notation for December 14, 1818, the day it was received by the Assembly; at that time the only press in Shepherdstown was that of the firm of Robinson & Harper; as this title clearly was intended to benefit the residents of both Shepherdstown and surrounding Jefferson County, it undoubted issued from that press, so the attributions reported here; the first names of the partners have not been determined..
