- notes: Report is signed in print by the principal engineer, Loammi Baldwin [Jr.] (1780-1838), the Bostonian who served in that role from 1817 to 1820, before building canals and dry-docks (including that in the Norfolk Navy Yard) throughout the eastern seaboard in the years thereafter; Thomas Ritchie, the public printer, was ordered on December 22, 1818, to print 250 copies of this report, for use of the Assembly, so the attribution here to the partnership then conducting Ritchie's press.
Surviving copies are all part of bound sets of board's reports from 1816 to 1819, issued with a title page bearing the imprint of Samuel Shepherd & William Pollard, the firm Ritchie often subcontracted to produce non-standard items during Assembly sessions (1819.000).
