The Pamphleteer, No. 1.
- imprint_number: 1819.065
- title: The Pamphleteer, No. 1, Essay on Baptism.
- sequence_number: 65
- year: 1819
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Franklin Press by William W. Gray for John H. Rice
- author: Rice, John Holt (1777-1831).
- notes: First in an intended series of essays on religious topics; this number concerns the sacrament of baptism; a second essay, concerning the "unchristian" vitriol evinced in contemporaneous theological divisions, was issued with continuous pagination from this item, but with an 1829 title page (1820.040), indicating that each of Rice's essays were issued separately, though he intended the series to be bound together as one; surviving copies of both are bound thusly.
Copy filmed by the Early American Imprints Series also bears an advertisement on last page for titles published by the Franklin Press: A Letter on the Principles of the Christian Faith (1819.050), The True Travels of Captain John Smith (1819.051), A Sermon to Young Women (1819.061), and both Rice essays, indicating it was issued in 1820 as one imprint.
