Madera as publishers of the Monongalia Spectator in Morgantown came to an abrupt end in May 1819, with the printer quickly relocating to Clarksburg to print a new weekly there; the journal that he proposed here began publication on August 4, 1819 and continued until late 1824, thanks in part to the license granted tor him by the Monroe administration to print the laws of the United States in his new Independent Virginian.
This item is infrequent instance of his surname being spelled with a "gh" rather a simple "h."
