• notes: Second, and apparently last, in an intended series of essays on religious topics; this number concerns the "unchristian" vitriol evinced in contemporaneous theological divisions' this was issued with continuous pagination from essay no. 1 (1819.065) concerning the sacrament of baptism; while surviving copies of each are bound together, the individual title pages with differing publication dates indicates that each of Rice's essays were issued separately, though he intended the series to be bound together as one volume.
  Copy filmed by the Early American Imprints Series also bears an advertisement on last page for titles published by the Franklin Press: A Letter on the Principles of the Christian Faith (1819.050), The True Travels of Captain John Smith (1819.051), A Sermon to Young Women (1819.061), and both Rice essays, indicating this was issued in 1820 as a distinct imprint.
