• notes: A second edition of the 1792 revisal of the laws with the addition of the public laws passed after the Assembly of October 1793, whose acts were included in that original edition.
  Richmond printers of Samuel Pleasants (Republican) and Henry Pace (Federalist) proposed this collaborative, bipartisan project in October 1801 (see 1801.043) to rectify a shortage of available copies of the last revisal published by Augustine Davis (1794.036); he had lost the public printing concession in late 1798, in part, for producing insufficient numbers of the documents needed by public officials and county courts – as evinced by this shortage.
  The General Assembly supported their project by passing a law in January 1802 (Chap. XV in Acts of December 1801 Assembly) authorizing the governor to purchase 1000 copies of the proposed new edition and distribute them among the state's public officers as he thought most appropriate; the act also appointed a committee of prominent lawyers, which included writer & editor James Rind, to inspect and certify the text's conformity with the Davis-printed edition (see 1803.014). This finished imprint was issued from their presses in February 1803.
